Queen Mary and King Frederik joined Queen Margrethe in Fredensborg today ahead of her birthday celebrations, after they were caught cold on a family skiing trip over Easter.

The royal couple, Queen Margrethe and her sister, Princess Benedikte, stood outside the palace next to Margrethe’s sausage dog named Tilia, who was also there.

The family celebrated privately at Fredensborg Castle, a venue used for important family events such as weddings, silver wedding anniversaries and birthdays.

Mary, 52, put her fashion foot forward and opted for a baby blue jacket, along with a brooch, which she pinned to the left breast.

Mary opted for a pair of blue suit pants and a blouse, along with matching pointed heels and tucked her brunette heels into a functional ponytail.

The young lady looked beautiful, she chose dangly dangly earrings and chose to wear natural makeup today.

Princess Benedikte also wore a model’s blue blouse and knee-length dress along with a modest blazer and pearl jewelry.

Margrethe cut a toned figure as she wore a matching navy blazer and midi skirt.

The former teamed this with a red and white patterned blouse, which she tucked into her dress and completed her look with strappy black heels.

King Frederik, 55, looked slim in a charcoal blue suit which he teamed with a crisp white shirt and brown polished shoes.

The couple, who took the Danish throne in January, stood side by side, Mary’s arms at her sides and Frederik’s behind before waving to crowds of royal fans.

The king opted for a sapphire blue tie, matching the same color scheme as his wife’s to show sartorial unity amid rumors of marital strife in recent months.

In November 2023, photos of Crown Prince Frederick enjoying an evening with Mexican friend Genoveva Casnova shocked Denmark.

In the pictures, the royal daughter-in-law and the first billionaire Duchess of Alba were seen walking in Madrid before going to the building of her house, changing clothes and going out again in the evening.

The publication of the photos resulted in Genoveva, 47, issuing a statement denying any kind of romantic relationship between her and the royal and denouncing the “malicious” rumours.

In the past few weeks, Queen Mary has sparked headlines by completing a series of royal engagements alone without her husband.

On April 3, the mother of four attended the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Home Guard at the Freedom Museum in Copenhagen.

Four days later, Queen Mary completed another commitment when she was present at the opening of a deer park in Naerum.

On April 9, Queen Mary went out without her husband again for a charity meeting in Copenhagen.

King Frederik and Queen Mary’s schedules appeared to overlap a bit at the beginning of the month when they hosted various guests at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

Last Friday, the official Instagram account for the Danish Royal Family shared two details detailing Frederik and Mary’s separate engagement.

On the same day, pictures emerged from the couple’s ski trip to Switzerland, which did little to quell rumors of trouble between the pair.

The couple were spotted chilling during a March trip to Verbier, an exclusive ski resort in Switzerland.

Mary, 52, appeared to be losing patience with Frederik, 55, when he turned his back on her as they prepared to walk the slopes.

The photos show Mary, who was the picture of ski chic in a wool and cashmere-blend jacquard turtleneck sweater from Moncler, looking away from her husband – as she stood demurely with her hands on her hips.

The couple were joined by their four children, Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Isabella, 16, and 13-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
