Johnny Depp made his first UK appearance last night in London since his civil court case with Amber Heard.

Depp’s new film, Jeanne Du Barry, a small French film directed by Maïwenn opened in London last night.

The Sweeney Todd star was swarmed by fans as soon as he stepped onto the red carpet and happily signed autographs for those who had gathered to meet him.

Although Depp was all smiles, many were surprised to see his yellow teeth that did not resemble the bright Hollywood smile that many of us are used to seeing on screen.

As the film premiered at Cannes, Johnny Depp’s “rotten” teeth stole the spotlight and fans flooded social media to express concern about the star’s dental hygiene.

Depp wore a blue suit for the occasion and styled his long locks for Dior’s upcoming new campaign, where he is the face of their fragrance, Sauvage.

This film is a first for the actor, who plays Louis XV, King of France in the film, as it marks the first time he will be acting in French.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star explained to reporters at the event that his ex-wife was French and his children also spoke French, which encouraged him to improve his skills and take part.

‘For me, I felt that my girl – the mother of my children – is French so my children are half French,’ he said.

And I’ve been speaking a kind of – I don’t know – French maybe hobo – for years, actually getting by by learning street slang and stuff.’

This is Johnny’s first film since he was fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise back in 2020. The star was fired after a court case in the UK with his ex-wife concluded that he assaulted her.

The actor appeared to address his lengthy court appearance in his US defamation case with his ex-wife Amber for one minute on stage.

When he introduced the film he said of the director, Maïwenn: ‘He had a lot of courage to take me to his team.’

Speaking earlier to the Hollywood Reporter, the star rejected claims that this film was his ‘comeback’, arguing that he has been going nowhere for the past few years.

Depp said: ‘I always wonder about the word “return,” because I didn’t go anywhere.

‘Maybe people stopped calling – because of their fear at the time – but I didn’t go anywhere.

I have stayed. ‘Coming back’ is almost like I’m going out to tap dance – dance as hard as I can and I hope you’ll accept it. That’s the idea. It’s a wonderful mystery.’
