Tyler James, a close friend of late singer Amy Winehouse, has criticized a new biopic about the singer as he says it fails to capture the “amazing, beautiful” person he knew.

James has now made the same withering comment, declaring that Winehouse herself would be “furious” at the way he described it.

James is shown only briefly in the film, and actor Spike Fearn takes the role, despite spending a lot of time with him.

“I don’t need to be there for the whole movie to know what we were saying to each other. I was there for him in real life and this is just a movie. And I really felt apart from it. It was like watching a dream, believing,” he said.

However, he said he was happy to see how the film showed that Winehouse “really loved” Fielder-Civil: “And she loved him. I loved Blake and I’m glad he wasn’t made a villain, because he was not.

Fielder-Civil himself recently appeared in an interview with Good Morning Britain to discuss how the public has perceived her since Winehouse’s death, and how she feels about Back to Black.

Appears on Friday (April 12) of Good Morning Britain, Fielder-Civil told the ITV show’s producers that she found the film “almost cathartic in a way” and that she believes some episodes made her feel she was being seen “in a more accurate representation”.
