Alec Baldwin may be sweating profusely following the high-profile sentencing of Rust actress Hannah Gutierrez-Reed on Monday, ahead of the star’s criminal trial in July.

Gutierrez-Reed, the main gunman in the ill-fated movie Rust, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison for the fatal shooting of filmmaker Halyna Hutchins.

He was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March by a jury, making him the first crew member to be found guilty in the accidental shooting of Hutchins by actor Alec Baldwin, 66. .

Baldwin’s criminal trial will begin on July 10, after a grand jury indicted him for involuntary manslaughter back in January.

Legal expert and personal injury lawyer Miguel Custodio said that could be ‘bad news’ for the 30 Rock star, who faces the same sentence if found guilty.

Rust activist Hannah Guttierez-Reed was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison for the involuntary manslaughter of filmmaker Halyna Hutchins.

The expert said that Baldwin’s best bet is to file an appeal – but that doubt will be the player’s legal strategy.

‘[It] it shows the court is taking this fatal shooting seriously and that it is not just for show as his defenders claim,” Custodio said.

‘ A plea deal may be the best strategy for him right now, given today’s sentencing, and the information the prosecution has about the chaos on stage and Baldwin’s failure to do anything about it. But I don’t see that happening,’ he added.

Baldwin has maintained his innocence, but Guttierez-Reed’s attorneys say the environment he created led to Hutchins’ death.

‘[He] he can think that he will have an easy time if he believes that his team can convince the court to see that only one guilty party has been convicted,” Custodio added.

‘That’s a dangerous proposition, as Baldwin’s role as producer really affects all aspects of the production. Potential jurors will know exactly what went on with Gutierrez-Reed and will scrutinize Baldwin’s lack of responsibility for the chaos on stage.’

Baldwin denied pulling a gun and said he was ordered to point the weapon at the camera. The FBI and private firearms experts concluded that the gun would not have fired without the trigger being pulled.

He has repeatedly tried to get the charges against him dropped, most recently after the Guttierez-Reed verdict.

It was reported last year that Hutchins’ widower, Matthew Hutchins, would testify against Baldwin in his criminal trial.

In July, prosecutors will make a case that Baldwin, who was the producer of the doomed film, shares responsibility for Hutchins’ tragic end.

The judge said the Rust actor was given a longer sentence due to his failure to show remorse.

“We know that prosecutors will build their case around Baldwin presiding over the chaos and doing nothing about it, yet they know that Gutierrez-Reed was relatively inexperienced and traumatized,” founder- a partner at Custodio & Dubey LLP said.

And yet he decided not to bring anyone in, or make any other personnel changes. This morning he himself said he lacked the right equipment and manpower, and he tried to do the job anyway.’

His lawyers said he had no control over his emotions in the weeks leading up to the shooting and was pressuring staff to work quickly and ‘constantly breaching security’.

The legal expert also realizes that he will be the judge and the people who accuse him of the same facts.

Hutchins was killed when Baldwin pointed his gun at a cinematographer and drew the weapon while setting up the scene.

Gutierrez-Reed wept as his fate was read aloud in court today by a judge who reprimanded him for his lack of remorse.

‘Your lawyer had to tell the jury that you were sorry,’ said Judge Mary Marlow Sommer.

The firearms expert, who is the stepdaughter of Thell Reed – a respected Hollywood gun trainer – was sentenced by New Mexico District Court Judge Sommer.

Gutierrez-Reed’s attorneys asked for a suspended sentence, but prosecutors argued for 18 months because of the defendant’s lack of remorse.

Judge Sommer sided with prosecutors, handing down the full sentence recommended for Gutierrez-Reed after it was revealed she had called jurors ‘scumbags’ and said the judge had been “paid off” during those calls. what did he do in prison.

He also went on to blame Baldwin and others on stage and in the production team for the shooting.
